General Description
Datalogic’s innovative reader operates at up to 40 cm from the bar code and is based on the most innovative CCD technology, previously reserved for contact reading, allowing it to read like a laser scanner over long distances, with equal or better results.
With the objective of making the operator’s job easier, the DLC7070-M CCD GUN™ offers ergonomic solutions designed to optimise handling and ease of use.

After careful market analysis focused on determining operational needs for bar code acquisition applications in retail, banks, post offices and insurance companies, Datalogic found that the user typically holds a reader at a distance of between 3 cm and 18 cm from the bar code.

We have defined this as the INSTINCTIVE READING DISTANCE.
On the basis of this information, Datalogic designed the new reader offering the best performance in this instinctive reading field.
Reading is always aggressive and reliable thanks to the sophisticated optical system with a concentrated illumination beam, facilitating correct alignment on the bar code. A double beeper and a large LED indicator provide unique operator feedback.

Reliability and ruggedness were also very important factors in Datalogic’s research. The optical system, without moving parts, is mounted on shock absorbers to guarantee continued functionality even after repeated drops onto concrete, and the push button can withstand thousands of operations.
All in all, it is an important challenge that only the European leader in CCD technology can meet.

Advanced Technology
The DLC7070-M is a revolutionary product.
This reader based on CCD technology is capable of reaching and surpassing the performance levels of a laser scanner.
How was this amazing result reached?

DLC7070-MOur three main goals were to achieve long distance reading, fast data capture and high feed back to the operator, as well as precise targeting of the code.
We responded to the user's needs with state-of-the-art technological innovation.
Just think of an automobile; making it go is easy. Just turn on the engine, shift gear and step on the accelerator. However, if the engine is already on, departure occurs much faster.
The DLC7070-M's motor is always on. All the user needs to do is press the trigger.
DLC7070-M It reads promptly, while power consumption is always low.

As far as reading distance and easy pointing at the code are concerned, we put much effort into concentrating the light beam emitted by the reader.

The red light can be identified easily by the user in any environmental conditions. The light beam always remains bright, sharp and defined even at long distances.

We also paid particular attention to the depth of field, using sophisticated optics and a diaphragm capable of maintaining sharp images of near and long distance codes.
All this is enclosed in an ergonomic form of a gun: the CCD-GUN™.

A new market segment: Instinctive reading
By observing bar code users during a typical work day in the retail or office automation sectors (banks, post offices, insurance companies, etc.), we noticed that they usually hold the reader at a distance of 3 to 18 cm from the bar code.
We also noted that when reading is difficult, the operator tends to bring the reader closer to the code to increase reading probability.
We have defined this behavior as "Instinctive Reading." All our research and development has focused on providing a reader with excellent performance in this area to completely satisfy this natural tendency manifested by the user.

Research and studies conducted on the opto-electronic components then allowed us to go a step further.
We combined the needs of bar code users with innovative technology in the CCD (Charged Coupled Device) field, providing high performance in long distance reading and never before imagined reading response times, as well as filling a performance GAP, namely, the "instictive reading distance" not covered by previous technologies.

Typical applications
The DLC7070-M can be used in a wide range of applications due to its versatility and ease of use.
The DLC7070-M represents the ideal solution for bar code reading especially in the retail and service sectors.
Point-of-sale reading, price verification, mark-downs and in-store inventory management can be profitably enhanced thanks to the DLC7070-M in a variety of retail environments: mass merchandise, speciality retail, department stores, superettes and groceries.
DLC7070-MThanks to the retail stand STD7070, hands-free scanning can be performed in checkout environments where small items must be read frequently.
It requires no space at the retail POS counter and is easily mounted.
Document tracking and order processing are some of the most common applications in banks, insurance companies, post offices and in shipping and receiving office operations.
Patient tracking and clinical control duties are the main applications found in hospitals and clinics.
DLC7070-MIn all these environments, DLC7070-M is highly productive and its quickness reduces performance time especially in sequential operations.
DLC7070-M is also of great value in light warehouse and manufacturing applications. Assembly line material tracking, inventory management, picking, shipping and receiving are performed at their best with the CCD-GUN™.
Moreover, its particular low power consumption makes the DLC7070-M ideal also as an attachment to a portable terminal for mobile applications.
DLC7070-MThis is all possible thanks to DLC7070-M's ergonomics, easy aiming and careful attention paid to particular features such as the high resistant trigger, adjustable high tone beepers, aggressiveness and, of course, reliability.
The DLC7070-M provides superior bar code scanning thanks to the "instinctive reading" feature, maximum user comfort and a highly attractive price.
